214 years ago, Haiti, once called Hispaniola,
has gained its Independence. The Haitian population is almost entirely descended
from African Slaves, they won their independence with France by their sides in
1804, lead them to be the second country in the Americas, after the United
States, to free itself from colonial rule.
For decades, Haiti have been struggling with
corruptions in the government, naturals disasters that hardly hit them and
deforestation, which makes it difficult for them to move forward.
Haiti has
beautiful beaches and the mountains are admirable, the people are welcoming.
Tourism played a big part in the economy then, but now it starts to
decrease.
The
Haitian culture is quite amazing. Their main religious is VOODOO, but majority
of the population are Christians (protestants). They love their traditions,
traditions in Haiti is very respected like; they cook SOUP JOUMOU (pumpkin
soup) every January 1st to honor their independence. Nothing is more beautiful
then listening to the old song written and performed by the ancestors during
story times,
Haiti
Has be through many ups and downs and yet still proudly standing,
